South 7 Mile Beach

South 7 Mile Beach

The south 7 Mile Beach area has great snorkeling and the condos in this area are more reasonably priced than those in the prime central 7 MIle Beach area.

There is a good selection of restaurants, shopping and activities in this area, yet the resorts in this area are still fairly quiet, as they are set a ways back from the main road. The beach is busiest up around Regal Beach Club, as the Marriott Beach Resort is next door. From Tamarind Bay and south though, it is pretty quiet and there isn't a lot of walk-by traffic on the beach. The Grandview is especially good for a relaxing, get away from the crowd type vacation.

Regal Beach Club has a nice wide white sandy beach. Further south, the beach narrows once you get further south of Tamarind Bay and there are mixed sections of sand and iron shore. Iron shore is solid rock (often jagged) that you need shoes to walk on without it being uncomfortable. The iron shore protects the beaches from erosion, and provides tidal pools for exploring. Even where there is ironshore, it is only along the waters edge and there is still a nice sandy beach between the ironshore and the resort's pool area. For beach purists though, the beaches further north will likely appeal to you more.

The snorkeling is excellent in this area, as there is iron shore and numerous coral heads that all provide excellent shelter for sea life. There is even a wreck a little south of The Grandview that you can easily snorkel out to. You can expect to see a myriad of fish life and possibly even sea turtles, octopus, stingrays and squid as you snorkel along the shore in this area.
